Naveen-ul-Haq vs Virat Kohli will be an interesting matchup: Robin Uthappa

Team India are all set to take on Afghanistan in their second match in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. The match will be contested at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11, Wednesday.

Ahead of the game, former India batter Robin Uthappa stated that it would be interesting to witness the battles between the players of both sides, especially the one between Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli. The young Afghan batter and Kohli have a history of getting ignited against each other during the 2023 Indian Premier League.

“Mujeeb Ur Rahman against Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will be one. Fazalhaq Farooqi against India’s top-order. Naveen-ul-Haq vs Virat Kohli will be an interesting matchup. They have had a history, but it’s good to see them going head-to-head against each other. I would like to see Rashid Khan vs KL Rahul as well,” Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.

India will not have the services of their star batter Shubman Gill who is currently recuperating from dengue. Uthappa stated that it will not be that easy for the young batter but hopes he will return to the team fully fit. Notably, the 24-year-old did not play the game against Australia as well.

“We are hoping he recovers quickly and returns to the team. However, it isn’t easy to make a comeback after suffering from dengue. I have gone through it myself, and it does get a bit difficult physically. We are hoping that it hasn’t affected his body a lot. When you recover from dengue, you experience some pain in your bones,” the 37-year-old added.

India are coming off a six-wicket win over Australia in a thrilling encounter in Chennai. After the match against Afghanistan, the Men in Blue will play arch-rivals Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. Afghanistan, on the other hand, lost to Bangladesh in their opening match and will hope to put on a better show against the two-time champions.
