In a thrilling semi-final clash in the ODI World Cup 2023, India emerged victorious against New Zealand in a spectacular display of cricketing prowess. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted an imposing total of 397/4, led by a stellar century from Virat Kohli. Kohli’s brilliant knock of 117 off 113 balls not only propelled India to a commanding position but also marked a historic moment as he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI centuries, reaching a remarkable milestone of 50 centuries.

The second innings saw New Zealand putting up a valiant chase, keeping the match on a knife-edge. However, the heroics of Indian pacer Mohammed Shami turned the tide in India’s favour. Shami’s exceptional bowling performance saw him take an astounding 7 wickets in just 9.5 overs, conceding 57 runs. His relentless and match-winning effort earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award, securing India’s passage to the much-coveted World Cup final.

Amidst the jubilation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to express his admiration for Shami’s outstanding contribution. Modi’s tweet read, “Today’s Semi Final has been even more special thanks to stellar individual performances too. The bowling by @MdShami11 in this game and also throughout the World Cup will be cherished by cricket lovers for generations to come. Well played Shami!”

Here’s Narendra Modi’s Tweet praising Shami:
