Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat on Sunday, April 26. Rishabh Pant and Co. lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Super Over at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium.
While Lucknow’s chances of reaching the playoffs are hanging by a thread, the only silver lining for them has been the performances of fast bowlers Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan. The latter bagged his first-ever five-for in T20 cricket on Sunday.
LSG head coach Justin Langer mentioned after the match that both Prince and Mohsin would represent India very soon. While praising Mohsin, the former Australian opener said that the left-arm seamer is a genuine athlete and mentioned how he worked hard on his fitness in recent years.
“Yeah, I said a few nights ago I thought he and Prince will soon play cricket for India. And the thing about Mohsin Khan is that he is an incredible athlete. Watch him. You can tell a great athlete by the way they throw a ball, and you watch Mohsin—what an incredible thrower. And then he hits this incredible length, right? It’s a very simple game plan—keep hitting at his height, with his wrist. And the other thing about him, we’ve always known this, but to his unbelievable credit, he’s got himself fit, strong and healthy,” Langer was quoted as saying by India Today.
Langer also credited Mohsin’s off-field efforts and dedication, pointing out the work he has put in to return to peak condition. The 55-year-old also mentioned how Lucknow’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has helped Mohsin unlock his full potential.
“He’s done some great work with Bharat Arun. What a lot of people don’t know is that he spent a few months at Bharat’s academy in Chennai leading up to this, all off his own back. He worked hard, and he’s getting fit. That’s why he was so disappointed when he hurt his quad after the first game, because you can see how valuable he is. We haven’t had him much for the last two seasons, and it’s a great thrill for us to have him in the team. And it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a great thrill for India to have him in their team in the not too distant future,” he added.
