Mohammad Kaif has lashed out at Mohammad Amir for his controversial remarks on Indian batter Abhishek Sharma and the Indian team during the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Pakistan speedster created a massive stir in the cricket community after he called Abhishek “nothing but a slogger” and predicted that the Men in Blue would not make it to the semi-final of the marquee event.

Kaif mentioned that Amir makes such inflammatory comments to stay in the news. He suggested that Indians shouldn’t give much importance to such comments as they have not been made on the basis of cricketing logic and analysis.

“Did Amir really not know that India would reach the semifinals? Of course, he knew that the defending champions would make it. But they say these things because it becomes news. We must not give them importance. There is no need for us to come down to their level and reply,” he said on his YouTube channel on the eve of the second semi-final clash between India and England.

Kaif also took a jibe at Amir’s cricketing credentials, referring to Pakistan’s T20 World Cup group-stage game against the USA back in 2024. Kaif reminded fans — and perhaps Amir — that the left-arm seamer failed to keep the USA batters in check in the Super Over of that match by bowling several wides. Kaif added that a bowler who could not even win a match against the USA was not worth taking seriously.

“The loss they faced against the USA in 2024 — it was the same bowler who was responsible. In that over, he conceded only one boundary, but bowled too many wides. His balls did not even land on the stumps. Who got scared against that USA team and made his side lose the game? I don’t have to say more,” Kaif said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in back-to-back editions. While the Men in Green bowed out in the group stage in 2024, they at least made it to the Super 8 this year. However, a team like Pakistan, which has a glorious cricketing history, should be competing for the title more often than not.
