Mitchell Stanley lands new three-year deal with Lancashire

Fast bowler Mitchell Stanley has signed a contract extension with Lancashire following a breakout season in 2026. The 25-year-old has penned a three-year deal which will keep him at the Old Trafford-based club until the end of the 2028 season.

Stanley joined the Red Rose county from Worcestershire before the 2024 season. However, constant injuries prevented him from nailing down a regular spot in the side until this season. This season, however, Stanley has showcased his prowess with the ball, taking 15 wickets from four County Championship Division Two matches, including a five-wicket haul against Derbyshire in Chesterfield. 

The right-arm pace bowler has also claimed six wickets from three T20 Blast matches this season, including career-best figures of 4 for 30 against arch-rivals Yorkshire. 

“I’m really pleased to sign a new contract at Lancashire. Ever since I joined the Club in 2024, I’ve felt this is the right place for me to develop, and I’m grateful for the faith everyone has shown in me. I’ve loved being part of the fast-bowling group. We’ve got a great mix of youth and experience, and being able to learn from someone like James Anderson every day is invaluable. It’s a close-knit group and we all push each other to improve. It’s been brilliant to play more red-ball cricket over the last 12 months and gain further experience with England Lions. I feel like my game has developed a lot, but there’s still plenty more to come, and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey and helping Lancashire achieve success over the next two years and beyond,” Mitchell Stanley said on Lancashire’s website. 

Stanley’s potential has not only been seen by Lancashire but also has been noticed by England. Last year, he was given a Development Contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) alongside Leicestershire’s Josh Hull, Surrey bowler Tom Lawes and Sonny Baker from Hampshire. 

Lancashire are currently not having the best of times in the County Championship, finding themselves second from bottom in Division Two, with only Gloucestershire behind them.
