5. Trent Boult’s 4/18 versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2020

Trent Boult played an instrumental role in making MI champions in 2020. Pairing up with Jasprit Bumrah, the New Zealand stalwart gave some incredible match-winning moments to the team. Against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Boult showcased his mettle and guided his team to a comfortable 10-wicket win.

The Kiwi speedster bowled a four-over spell against the Men in Yellow and picked up Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran. He recorded 4/18 figures with the ball and ended up as the Player of the Match for his scintillating performance.

4. Lasith Malinga’s 5/13 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2011

Former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga served MI from 2009 to 2019 and during those 10 years, he achieved numerous records for the team with his sensational bowling. Back in 2011, he became the first Mumbai bowler to clinch a fifer in the cash-rich league.

Against Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils), at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium), the Sri Lanka speedster wreaked havoc on batters and folded the hosts on a mere 95. Among his five hunts, Delhi stalwarts David Warner and Venugopal Rao were included. Riding on his bowling effort, MI registered an incredible eight-wicket win.

3. Alzarri Joseph’s 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2019

West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph served MI in 2019 and he did his job efficiently with the ball. In MI’s fourth title win, he chipped in with six wickets in three matches. He picked up all six wickets for MI in just one game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The Caribbean player looked ruthless and wrecked the Orange Army. He bowled 3.4 overs and took six wickets to help his team contain SRH on 96 and defend a low total of 136 successfully. In his ferocious spell, he picked up David Warner, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, and two tailenders. The Windies player also became the recipient of the Player of the Match award. Joseph is the only bowler to pick up six wickets for MI in an IPL contest.

2. Akash Madhwal’s 5/5 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2023

Uncapped India player Akash Madhwal made his IPL debut in 2023 and grabbed cricket fans’ attention with his exceptional bowling performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Uttarakhand-born pacer got five wickets in the game and guided his team to a humongous 81-run win.

Saving 182 runs for his team, Madhwal got rid of key LSG batters such as Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran. Riding on his disciplined bowling show, Mumbai bundled out Lucknow on 101. The pacer also got the Player of the Match award for ending his 3.3-over spell with 5/5 figures.

Jasprit Bumrah has showcased his bowling mettle in IPL several times in his 11-year association with MI. In 2020, Mumbai lifted their fifth IPL trophy and the veteran ended up as the second-leading wicket-taker in the competition. The paceman stepped up for MI in the crucial playoff game against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Batting second, Delhi got the task of chasing 201 runs and Bumrah made the challenge more difficult with his extraordinary bowling. The India quick put DC on the back foot, dismissing Shikhar Dhawa

n, Shreyas Iyer, and Marcus Stoinis. In the end, Bumrah recorded 4/14 figures in his four overs and his diligence helped MI to register a convincing 57-run win.
