Litton Das returns in Bangladesh’s squad for ODIs against Zimbabwe

Litton Das returns in Bangladesh's squad for ODIs against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh fans will be happy to hear that Litton Das has regained full fitness and will be playing in the ODI series against Zimbabwe next month. The experienced wicketkeeper-batter has recovered from a calf injury he sustained during the ODI series in Dhaka against Australia earlier this month.

Litton, who has been in stunning form of late, missed the subsequent three-match T20I series against Australia in Chattogram. A few days ago, he was ruled out of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe and replaced by Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan.

There were concerns regarding Litton’s participation in the ODI series, especially with both he and Taskin Ahmed expected to miss the T20I leg due to their Lanka Premier League (LPL) commitments. The former has resumed training at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium and is expected to be available from the first ODI itself.

BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) chief selector Habibul Bashar breathed a sigh of relief, having Litton back in the scheme of things, as he highlighted the importance of the 31-year-old across formats.

“It is a huge relief that he is back. Our physio is confident that he will be fit before the ODIs, considering he is an integral part of our all-format set-up,”  told Cricbuzz on Thursday, June 25.

The one-off Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe starts on Sunday, June 28. This encounter will be followed by a three-match ODI series, with games being played on July 6, 9, and 11. Bangladesh’s tour will conclude with three T20Is against the Chevrons on July 15, 17, and 19, respectively. The one-off Test and the ODI series will be hosted at the Harare Sports Club. However, the action will shift to the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo for the T20I leg.

Bangladesh ODI squad versus Zimbabwe: Mehidy Hasan Miraz (captain), Soumya Sarkar, Mohammed Saif Hasan, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto (vice-captain), Towhid Hridoy, Litton Kumar Das, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana.
