Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul further quashed rumours of a rift with the Delhi Capitals management, thanking franchise co-owner Parth Jindal for his backing and sharing his excitement for the upcoming season.

Speculation about KL Rahul’s future at Delhi Capitals was put to rest on September 7, when the franchise posted a 48-second video montage of the wicketkeeper-batter across its official social media accounts. The clip showed Rahul addressing Delhi Capitals supporters, and within the video he could be heard saying, ‘I’m home.’

The video arrived after reports had linked Rahul to a potential move to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2027. A journalist from a reputed news outlet had reported a rift between Rahul and the Delhi Capitals setup, describing the situation as more serious than his 2024 separation from Lucknow Super Giants. The swap deal that brought Rishabh Pant back to Delhi Capitals had added to the speculation, with questions raised about whether both wicketkeeper-batters could feature in the same playing eleven.

Parth Jindal’s public backing for Rahul

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal reshared the franchise video and added his own public backing for Rahul. Rahul responded to Jindal’s post, thanking him and expressing anticipation for the upcoming tournament

“KL IS KLUTCH FOR @DelhiCapitals – one of the nicest guys i know and one who puts the team before himself always. We have unfinished business and will work hard together to make Delhi proud @IPL,” Jindal wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Rahul’s record with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026

Rahul joined Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 season. In IPL 2026, he scored 593 runs across 14 matches and 14 innings at an average of 45.61 and a strike rate of 174.41, recording one century and five half-centuries. He also scored 539 runs in the 2025 season and has been the side’s top batter for the last two years.

Jindal’s personal connection with Rahul predates the Delhi Capitals signing. In a post-2025 auction interview, Jindal noted that Rahul ‘knows me for a long time’ and that Rahul, as a Bengaluru boy, had watched games of Bengaluru FC, the Indian Super League club that Jindal owns. The franchise chose to address the trade rumours through social media rather than through a formal press statement.
