Surrey wicketkeeper-batter Kira Chathli is set to lead England A in the T20 and 50-over series against India starting later this month.

The two squads feature three players capped with the senior team in Jodi Grewcock, Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Charis Pavely. The team also sees the inclusion of multiple highly rated prospects who have been in consideration for England call-ups, including Grace Scrivens, Sophia Smale and the exciting young batter Davina Perrin. The team will be stewarded by Jon Lewis, who is the batting coach of the senior women’s side.

“The India series will be another test of where this very talented group of players is at. Earning selection for an A side is proof you’re on the right path, but the next challenge is scoring runs or taking wickets consistently in domestic cricket and pushing for senior selection,” Lewis said in an official statement, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

“A series against another nation is always a positive thing and I’m sure we’ll learn a lot from it. I’m delighted for Kira, I’m sure she’ll look forward to leading the group and I know she’ll take a lot from it,” he added.

The series kicks off with the T20 leg on June 20 at Northampton, with the second and third games on June 23 and 25 in Northampton and Chelmsford, respectively. The 50-over series starts on June 28 at Hove, with the final two games in Taunton on July 1 and 4.
