Former Pakistan cricketer Khalid Latif has been setenced to 12 years in prison by a Dutch court for inciting the murder of Member of Parliament (MP) Geert Wilders. Latif allegedly offered 21,000 euros ($22,500) for the killing of Wilders after the latter announced a competition for cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, leading to widespread protests in Pakistan.

“It was not a stretch to think that somebody around the world would have taken heed of the call to kill Mr Wilders,” presiding judge G Verbeek told the court.
