Key details ahead of IPL 2026 final: Prize money for Orange Cap, Purple Cap, Winner, Runners-up, and washout scenario explained

Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans are all set to lock horns for the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, as the grand spectacle will be played in front of more than one lakh fans at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This match holds a great deal of prominence, not just in terms of glory but also the hefty cash rewards that different winners will earn at the end of the tournament.

A set of fans are also wondering what will happen in case the game gets washed out due to rain while also wondering if a reserve day has been allotted for the completion of the title clash in case of a washout on the scheduled day.

Is there a reserve day for IPL 2026 final?

According to the playing conditions mentioned on the official IPL website, it is learnt that the BCCI has allotted a reserve day for the match on Monday, June 01, in case a washout occurs on Sunday, the planned day for the big-ticket event. In case the play is washed out on the reserve day as well, the team that finished higher on the points table will be awarded the trophy.

What if the IPL 2026 final is washed out?

Thus, in case of a washout of both the original day and reserve day of the match, RCB will be handed over the trophy and named the champions due to their higher finish on the points table at the end of the league stage. RCB had finished first on the table with nine wins in 14 matches. GT, who also had nine wins in as many games, ended at the second spot due to their inferior net run-rate compared to RCB.

What is the prize money for IPL 2026?

A massive prize pool of a whopping INR 48.50 crore for major awards won at the closing ceremony of the cash-rich tournament. While individual awards are not shared, team awards are distributed 50 per cent with the players and the rest with the franchise owners to ensure an even spread of rewards for the on-field excellence.
