Kamran Akmal among 27 participants to feature in PCB’s Level I coaching course

Former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter and current consultant member of the selection committee, Kamran Akmal, is set to participate in a cricket coaching programe from December 11 to 14 at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta.

The Level One Coaching Course will feature 27 participants and will aim to equip individuals with essential coaching skills. The four-day program will cover key aspects such as communication, coaching philosophy, and planning and will be conducted by Tutors Imran Abbas, Rahat Abbas, and Taimur Azam, along with Balochistan’s Level one tutors Amanullah Deepal and Hussain Khosha. Participants will receive assignments post-course, with successful completion leading to Level One coaching certificates.

Kamran Akmal was known as one of the most destructive wicketkeeper-batters all around the world. He showcased brilliance with the bat and was pretty reliable behind the wicket as well. His ability to play attacking shots from the word made him a real-class batter for fans to watch across the world.

Kamran Akmal’s remarkable century against India in January 2006 when Pakistan had lost their first six wickets for just 39 runs still at times basks in the limelight. Kamran then came in and played a brilliant knock of 113 at number eight, aiding Pakistan to score 245 in their first innings. Ultimately, his efforts were successful as Pakistan won that Test by a significant margin of 341 runs.

Talking about Kamran’s overall International stats, in Test cricket, he played 53 matches, scoring 2648 runs with an average of 30.79, including six centuries and 12 fifties. In ODIs, he participated in 157 matches, accumulating 3236 runs at an average of 26.09, with five centuries and 10 fifties. In T20 Internationals, across 58 matches, he scored 987 runs at an average of 21.00, with no centuries but five fifties.

In recent times, Kamran has been seen playing in franchise cricket around the world, and he is also active on his YouTube channel, discussing cricket. Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how his coaching career unfolds.
