‘Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal in Ashes is dead and buried’ – Marnus Labuschagne ahead of Australia versus England ODI World Cup clash

Marnus Labuschagne stated that the drama regarding Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal during the Ashes this summer is ‘dead and buried’ for Australia. Australia and England are gearing up for their ODI World Cup clash which will be contested at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 4, Saturday.

The 2023 Ashes series in England has witnessed several controversies. The notable one was the dismissal of England’s wicket-keeper batter. Meanwhile, Labuschagned stated that Australia have already moved on from that.

“I can’t imagine anything’s gonna come up with Jonny (Bairstow). It’s dead and buried, something that we don’t really talk about, we don’t discuss. I don’t think anyone’s view or thoughts have changed on the decision on what happened and we just move on,” Labuschagne was quoted as saying by India Today.

“I know Jonny came out and spoke about it a few months ago but we prerecord stuff and then it comes out two months later so it feels like it’s topical again now, but that conversation was had months and months ago as players, it’s happened I think everyone’s moved on,” he added.

Labuschagne further spoke about England’s poor run of form in the ongoing tournament, stating that they will be the most dangerous team to face as they have nothing to lose. The 29-year-old admitted that England cannot be judged by their performances and they will put up a strong performance when they face off against each other. Notably, England is currently sitting at the bottom of the ODI World Cup points table, having won only one game of their six games.

“Obviously, England, just being horribly out of form – I don’t really think there’s much else. But one thing that does mean is they’re dangerous. If there’s ever a team that’s dangerous when they’re down and out, it’s England. Let’s not get sucked into how they’re performing. They’re a good team, they’re good individual players and we need to be at our best,” the Aussie concluded.
