Joburg Super Kings secured Kieron Pollard at the SA20 2027 auction, with the West Indian all-rounder going to the franchise for his base price of R1.5 million. No rival franchise entered the bidding, and the deal was completed without contest.
The SA20 League confirmed the signing, with Pollard set to wear the yellow jersey of the Super Kings franchise for the upcoming season. Pollard had previously been associated with MI Cape Town in the SA20 but was released by that franchise ahead of the 2027 auction.

Other JSK signings at the SA20 2027 auction
The SA20 2027 auction took place on October 7, 2026, with proceedings beginning at 8:30 pm IST. Four franchises were active bidders on the day. Paarl Royals and Durban’s Super Giants had already completed their squads before the auction and were not in the market for additional players.
JSK entered the auction with six slots to fill and R20.6 million remaining in their purse. The franchise had retained 12 players ahead of the event, including Rilee Rossouw, James Vince, Akeal Hosein, Leus du Plooy, Duan Jansen and Jason Holder, who was pre-signed. Albie Morkel serves as head coach for the fifth edition of the tournament.
Pollard was not the only player JSK added on the day. Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani was the franchise’s first nominated player and was signed without any rival bids. JSK also acquired Jason Rowles, with bidding for the Australian reaching R2.9 million, described as the biggest bid of the day at that stage of the proceedings.
Auction overview and remaining franchise purses
Among the notable developments elsewhere at the auction, Rassie van der Dussen went unsold. MI Cape Town entered the auction with six slots available but had only R3.6 million left in their purse. Their retained squad included Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada and Will Jacks, among others. Pretoria Capitals had five slots and R1.475 million remaining, with Andre Russell among their retained players. Sunrisers Eastern Cape had two slots to fill with R9.35 million still in hand, giving them the most flexibility among the active bidders.
Durban’s Super Giants had already filled their 19-player squad before the auction, with Aiden Markram as captain and Heinrich Klaasen holding the Wildcard slot. Their roster also included Jos Buttler, Kane Williamson, Liam Livingstone and Sunil Narine, among others.
Each franchise at the SA20 2027 auction was allocated a total purse of R42 million for squad recruitment. Squads can include a maximum of 19 players, with one Wildcard slot and two mandatory Under-23 players required in each side. The fifth edition of the SA20 is scheduled to begin on January 17, with JSK now one step closer to finalising their squad for the season ahead.
