Jemimah Rodrigues celebrates with teammates, support staff after historic win against Australia

Jemimah Rodrigues was seen celebrating her heart out after India’s historic win in the one-off Test against Australia at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 24. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side beat the visitors by eight wickets on the final day of the Test, marking their maiden win over Australia in the history of women’s Test cricket.

Rodrigues, who made her Test debut in the home Tes against England, is one of the most cheerful personalities in the women’s team. The 23-year-old took charge of the celebrations after the prize distribution ceremony. She was spotted taking quick interviews of her fellow teammates and coaching staff, including Amol Muzumdar.

India women beat Australia women by eight wickets 

Speaking about the game, Australia captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat. The visitors could post only 219 in the first innings. Tahlia McGrath was the standout performer, scoring a half-century. Meanwhile, Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana played a pivotal role, picking up four and three wickets, respectively.

Meanwhile, India scored a massive total of 406 runs, with four batters scoring crucial fifties. For Aussies, Ashleigh Gardner claimed a four-wicket haul while conceding 100 runs. Australia batters fell like a pack of cards in the third innings as they were bundled out for 261, with McGrath scoring 73. Sneh Rana claimed four wickets, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Harmanpreet Kaur got two scalps each. Chasing 75 in the final innings, the hosts reached the target in just 18.4 overs, with Smriti Mandhana scoring an unbeaten 38 off 61.
