Jason Sangha and Mackenzie Harvey are set to be a part of South Australia for the upcoming domestic season. After not getting enough chances in their respective teams, the duo decided to make a move. Sangha played just five Marsh Cup and  Sheffield Shield games each in the last season for New South Wales.

After the conclusion of the BBL, Sangha did not play a game for NSW, in the second half. Even in the BBL, the youngster got a chance to play just two matches. Hence, he is likely to make a move towards Adelaide Strikers later this year. Out of the 13 matches in the Marsh Cup, Harvey played his last in 2022.

In 2023, he could not bag a contract with Victoria. The Southpaw has not played Sheffield Shield for a long time. The 23-year-old is riding high on confidence on the back of a great performance in Queensland’s Premier Cricket Competition, where he smashed three hundred for Sunshine Coast. In addition to it, he smashed a 140 in the semifinal for Carlton.

Both players bring a lot of potential: Ryan Harris

Recognizing the caliber of the young talents, South Australia decided to get them on board. They have been undergoing transition themselves as Jason Gillespie and Tim Nielsen resigned from their roles. The new interim head coach, Ryan Harris, revealed that the batting order could be strengthened by the addition of the youngsters.

“After the 2023/24 season, we identified the need to improve our batting stocks and we have done just that with the recruitment of Jason and Mackenzie,” said Harris as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. He added that the age factor of the youngsters is an added advantage.
“Only in their early 20s, both players bring a lot of potential and upside to the list and we are excited to see what they can do. We look forward to welcoming Jason and Mackenzie to South Australia later this year,” added Harris in his statement. Nathan McSweeney is named the new skipper of South Australia. Charlie Wakim has been re-signed by Tasmania.
