Irfan Pathan names his squad for T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan recently came forward to name the Indian squad that he thinks should travel to the USA and the West Indies for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The marquee tournament is all set to begin on June 2 and will see some of the world’s best teams compete for the marquee title. 

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Irfan Pathan named the 15 players that he thinks should play for India in the World Cup. The former all-rounder began his squad with Rohit Sharma as the skipper, opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

Furthermore, the likes of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, and many more featured in the squad as well. It is interesting to note that Irfan Pathan names Hardik Pandya in the squad as well, but only on the condition that the star all-rounder bowls regularly.

Discussions over the World Cup squad intensify as the date nears

Currently, almost every Indian player is competing in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024, and the 17th edition of the tournament has seen many performances that have impressed their peers so far.

Shivam Dube from Chennai Super Kings has come into his own in 2024 and has been putting in exceptional performances for the five-time champions in the tournament. Furthermore, Yashasvi Jaiswal caught up with his form with a century in his recent IPL game as well. 

Star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returned from a life-threatening injury, coming back to play in the IPL after a hiatus of 1.5 years. Several stars have been performing brilliantly and are real contenders to make the World Cup squad.
