IPL 2027 auction to be held in Goa in December, confirms BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia

India will host the IPL 2027 player auction in Goa during December 2026, with BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia making the official announcement on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The confirmation ends a run of three successive overseas editions and marks the event’s return to Indian soil.

Saikia’s statement established Goa as the confirmed host city and December 2026 as the confirmed month for the IPL 2027 player auction. Reports published between September 19 and 20 had indicated the second week of December as the probable slot, but the BCCI has not yet formalised a specific date, and further scheduling details are expected to be communicated in due course. The auction will serve as the player selection event for IPL 2027, the upcoming edition of the tournament, and its return to India ends a sequence that saw the event hosted in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi across three consecutive years.

“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia said.

Saikia also addressed a venue change at the same press interaction on September 23. The multi-day fixture between India A Women and Australia A Women, originally scheduled at Dharamshala from September 29 to October 2, has been relocated to PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali owing to persistent rainfall and poor ground conditions at the original venue.

“We have recently shifted the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali because the ongoing weather conditions in Dharamshala are not very conducive for cricket. A lot of rainfall has been taking place there. Because of this incessant rainfall in Dharamshala, we decided that the matches should be moved to Mohali to ensure cricket activities continue without any interference from the weather,” said Saikia.

PCA IS Bindra Stadium is simultaneously serving as the venue for the three-match One-Day series featuring the same two sides. India A Women made a strong start in that series, chasing down 236 runs to claim a four-wicket win in the opening match.
