IPL 2026: What will happen if RCB vs GT, Qualifier 1 is washed out? Explained

IPL 2026: What will happen if RCB vs GT, Qualifier 1 is washed out? Explained

After a long haul of 70 matches in the league-stage campaign, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has finally reached the playoffs of the competition. In the Qualifier 1, the first-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on the might of Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, May 26, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

With the all-important match set to be played at the picturesque setting in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, there is a possibility of dark clouds looming over the uninterrupted conduct of the match. According to the latest weather report, a twenty-five per cent chance of rain has been predicted in Dharamsala on Tuesday, which might disturb the course of the match or, in a worst-case scenario, wash the game out completely.

While the fans of both teams will be hopeful of a full and unhindered contest happening on Tuesday, a rain delay or washout is likely to bring good luck for only one team. Since RCB finished first on the points table with 18 points, they will be making a direct entry into the final in case of a rain-curtailed evening in Dharamsala, whereas GT will proceed to the second qualifier in New Chandigarh to get another chance.
