Gujarat Titans have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as their new assistant coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The franchise confirmed the news on Wednesday, March 11, further strengthening their support staff before the upcoming campaign.

Dahiya, a well-known name in Indian cricket, represented India in two Tests and 19 ODIs during his international career. He also enjoyed a successful stint in domestic cricket with the Delhi cricket team before transitioning into coaching.

The former wicketkeeper later guided Delhi to the 2007–08 Ranji Trophy title, marking an impressive start to his coaching journey and establishing himself as a capable mentor in the domestic circuit.

Over the years, he has built a strong coaching résumé across domestic tournaments and the IPL. Dahiya most recently served as the assistant coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, where he worked as part of the support staff led by Andy Flower since the franchise’s introduction in 2022. However, he parted ways with the team ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Apart from that role, Dahiya has also previously worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders as an assistant coach, having a successful tenure there, and also served as a talent scout for the Delhi Capitals, gaining valuable experience across multiple IPL setups.

His appointment comes soon after the Titans roped in legendary Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden as their batting coach, further bolstering the team’s coaching structure ahead of the new season.

Since their debut in 2022, the Ahmedabad-based franchise has emerged as one of the most consistent sides in the IPL. The franchise won the title in their maiden season and has reached the playoffs in three of their first four campaigns. Led by Shubman Gill, the Titans also qualified for the playoffs last season but were eliminated in the playoffs after suffering a defeat to the Mumbai Indians.

With a strengthened coaching setup now in place, Gujarat Titans will look to build on their impressive record as preparations gather pace for the IPL 2026 season. The franchise will kick off their campaign against the Punjab Kings on March 31 in New Chandigarh.
