Sanju Samson scored his second hundred of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) after he hit the final ball of the first innings for a four during Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) away game against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Coming out to bat as an opener alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Samson batted for the entire 20 overs to score an unbeaten 101 off just 54 balls, in an innings which included 10 fours and six sixes along the way.

Batting on 85 after the completion of 19 overs, Samson faced Kris Bhagat and went on to score 16 runs in the last six balls to take him to his fifth IPL hundred. The wicketkeeper-batter hit two sixes, on the first and the fourth ball of the 20th over, before pulling a short ball to the deep square leg boundary to reach triple figures.

A host of MI players came in to congratulate Samson, including India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. The 31-year-old has now scored two hundreds from his first seven matches in a CSK shirt. His first century for his new side came against the Delhi Capitals, where he scored an unbeaten 115 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium to help his side take the win.
