Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag, along with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, were forging a solid partnership, where Mitchell Starc came in to the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) rescue during their home game played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 17, in Match 62 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Before coming in to bowl the 15th over of the first innings, RR were cruising at 160 for the loss of just two wickets. Starc, however, completely changed the wind with some great bowling. On the second ball of the over, the Australian fast bowler took the wicket of Parag, with DC captain Axar Patel taking an excellent diving catch whilst fielding at long on. In a carbon copy of the first wicket, new batter Donovan Ferreira got dismissed in a pretty similar fashion, hitting a ball to long on where Axar was stationed.
Ravi Singh came in to bat with Starc being on a hat-trick. The left-arm seamer tried to bowl a yorker, which instead came in as a full toss, which was hit for a boundary. The very next ball, however, Starc bowled a slower delivery, which completely deceived the left-handed batter and hit him plumb on his pads, being given out leg-before-wicket (LBW).
Starc would end his four-over spell with figures of 4 for 40, after also taking the wicket of Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka towards the end.
