Lucknow Super Giants registered a thrilling five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League 2026 on Sunday, April 5, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Batting first, SRH struggled to build momentum and posted a below-par total of 156/9 in 20 overs. Despite a few starts from the top order, they failed to convert them into substantial scores, with the LSG bowlers, especially Mohammed Shami, maintaining tight lines and picking up wickets at regular intervals to keep the scoring rate in check.
In response, LSG chased the target in a tense finish. Skipper Rishabh Pant led from the front with a crucial 68 off 50 balls, anchoring the innings and ensuring to stay till the end. He held one end firm while the rest of the batting unit chipped in with useful contributions to keep the chase on track.
SRH bowlers tried to fight back and took wickets at key moments, creating some pressure in the latter half of the innings. However, they could not contain the required rate in the death overs as LSG held their nerve.
Lucknow Super Giants eventually chased down the 157-run target with just one ball to spare, showcasing their resilience under pressure. The win marked LSG’s first success of the season, while SRH were left to rue their batting collapse and inability to defend a modest total at home.
Key Moments from Match 7 of IPL 2026:
Vintage Shami wreaks havoc
It was a classical display of new-ball bowling by the experienced Mohammed Shami for LSG, as he dismantled the ultra-aggressive SRH batting line-up single handedly. He took the wickets of Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma, SRH’s opening pair, and in ended the home side’s ambitions of putting up a big score. He finished his spell with an impressive figures of 2/9 in four overs.
