Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have issued a clarification regarding the on-field interaction between owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant following their defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League 2026.

After the loss, Goenka was seen engaged in an animated discussion with Pant, with head coach Justin Langer also part of the exchange. Although there was no audio, the visuals suggested a serious conversation, which quickly went viral on social media and sparked widespread speculation among fans and experts.

In response, LSG released a video on their official social media handle to address the situation, stating, “Not everything you see is the true story, here’s the unfiltered post-match vibes, when cameras don’t cut,” in an attempt to clear the air around the incident.

The moment also brought back memories of a similar episode during the IPL 2024 season, when Goenka was involved in a public exchange with then captain KL Rahul after a defeat, which had drawn significant criticism at the time.

On the field, DC registered a comfortable six-wicket win over LSG at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Batting first, LSG were bowled out for 141, struggling to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Mitchell Marsh scored 35, while Abdul Samad added 36 to provide some resistance.

Pant, opening the innings, managed just seven runs before being run out. DC’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi picking up three wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel also contributed with crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

In reply, LSG made an early impact with the ball, reducing DC to 33/4 in the powerplay. Mohammed Shami struck on the very first ball to dismiss Rahul, while Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav chipped in with key wickets. However, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs turned the game around with an unbeaten 119-run partnership. Rizvi starred with a match-winning 70 off 47 balls, while Stubbs supported him with 39*, guiding DC to victory with 17 balls to spare.
