Mumbai Indians (MI) will return to action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they take on an in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, April 29.

MI are currently ninth on the points table with just two wins, having defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). They have struggled to find rhythm and consistency this season and are still searching for momentum. The five-time champions will be eager to capitalise on home conditions and get back to winning ways in front of their fans.

Here is Mumbai Indians’ strongest predicted XI vs Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Top order: Rohit Sharma (IMP), Quinton de Kock (WK), Naman Dhir

Mumbai Indians are expected to welcome back Rohit Sharma into the playing XI as an Impact Player. Having averaged over 45 this season, his return will be a significant boost for the five-time champions. He is likely to open the innings alongside Quinton de Kock, who has already registered a century this season. Meanwhile, youngster Naman Dhir is set to bat at No. 3, having impressed with consistent performances and the ability to stabilise the team in crucial situations.

Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (C), Tilak Varma, Sherfane Rutherford, Will Jacks

Mumbai Indians’ middle order looks formidable on paper, but it hasn’t quite delivered consistently so far. Suryakumar Yadav has managed 157 runs this season, while Tilak Varma has been a standout performer with a century to his name. However, Hardik Pandya hasn’t been very effective with either bat or ball, which has affected the team’s balance.

Among the overseas players, Sherfane Rutherford has been striking at an impressive 190.74, but his lack of consistency remains a concern. Meanwhile, Will Jacks has recently joined the squad and is expected to feature in the playing XI, especially with Mitchell Santner now ruled out of the tournament.

Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Krish Bhagat, AM Ghazanfar, Ashwani Kumar

MI’s bowling attack has looked underwhelming overall this season. The biggest concern has been the form of their frontline pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has picked up just two wickets in seven matches. The team has also experimented with relatively inexperienced options like Krish Bhagat, who is still learning at this level.

Ashwani Kumar was brought into the XI later in the season after trying established names such as Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. Notably, Ashwani has impressed with six wickets in just two games, providing a rare positive in the pace department. On the spin front, Allah Ghazanfar has been a standout performer, bowling brilliantly and claiming eight wickets in five matches.

MI predicted XI against SRH for match 41:

Quinton de Kock (WK), Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (C), Tilak Varma, Sherfane Rutherford, Will Jacks, Jasprit Bumrah, Krish Bhagat, AM Ghazanfar, Ashwani Kumar

Impact Player: Rohit Sharma
