The Punjab Kings (PBKS) broke their own record of the highest successful run chase in Indian Premier League (IPL) history after beating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and went against the norm by deciding to bat first, in what was the best call on an excellent batting deck. The hosts went on to post a huge 264 runs on the board from their quota of 20 overs. They were able to achieve this feat thanks to KL Rahul and Nitish Rana. The duo put 220 runs together for the second wicket, with the wicketkeeper batter himself scoring an unbeaten 152 off just 67 balls, an innings comprising 16 fours and nine sixes. Rana, on the other hand, contributed a 44-ball 91, striking at 206.82.

In reply, PBKS chased down the mammoth total with seven balls remaining. Last year’s finalists got an excellent start to their innings thanks to Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. The opening pair scored 43 and 76, respectively, scoring 116 runs in the powerplay alone. Prabhsimran also became only the third batter in IPL history to score six fours in one over. Once they were dismissed, the scoring mantle was taken over by captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored an unbeaten 71 at a strike-rate of 197.22 to take his side home.

The IPL has not only got a massive fan following on the field, but it also has a strong following online, on various social media platforms. Each game brings a plethora of memes for the more casual fans to enjoy, bringing a whole different way to live the game online.
