Overview

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be searching for their first win in IPL 2026 when they take on a rampant Punjab Kings (PBKS) side at the Eden Gardens on Monday, April 6.

The Knights started their campaign with a six-wicket loss to the Mumbai Indians, failing to defend a 221-run target. In their following game, they were outplayed by Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home ground. The Knights lost that game by 65 runs.

On the other hand, the Punjab Kings have two wins from as many matches and are looking in red-hot form. They defeated the Gujarat Titans by three wickets and backed it up with a five-wicket win against the Chennai Super Kings.

Predicted Impact Players for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Kartik Tyagi: Kartik Tyagi has been the most impressive bowler for KKR in IPL 2026, as he has shown a lot of heart and tried to pick wickets instead of only stopping the runs.

Manish Pandey: Manish Pandey has not played a game so far, but he has been seen stopping a lot of runs in the outfield.

Rovman Powell: Rovman Powell has been in good form of late and would be hoping to get a chance to showcase his skills for the three-time champions.

Tejasvi Dahiya: Tejasvi Dahiya is a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter who might get his chance soon in the playing XI.

Saurabh Dubey: Saurabh Dubey came in as an injury replacement for Akash Deep. The tall left-arm seamer could be given a go if they decide to rest Vaibhav Arora, who has taken a bit of tap in the last two matches.

Predicted Impact Players for Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Priyansh Arya: Priyansh Arya had a stellar outing in the last game against Chennai. He needed just 11 balls to smash 39 runs and win the Player of the Match award.

Harpreet Brar: Harpreet Brar has not been used in the first couple of games, and it doesn’t seem like he will play against a right-hander-heavy KKR side.

Praveen Dubey: Praveen Dubey is an experienced leg-spinner waiting for his chance to make a mark in the IPL.

Vishnu Vinod: Vishnu Vinod is a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter who hasn’t had many opportunities in the IPL. However, he does pack a punch with the bat.

Suryansh Shedge: The seam-bowling all-rounder played five matches last season for Punjab Kings. He might not have been used in the first two games, but his time could come later in the tournament.

Expert Opinion and Final Prediction

  • Home Advantage: Kolkata Knight Riders had made the Eden Gardens a fortress back when Gautam Gambhir was their captain. However, since the pitches have changed and batters have dominated, the home advantage seems to have been nullified to an extent.
  • Recent Form: In the last five completed matches between them, Punjab have a 3-2 lead in the head-to-head.
  • Balanced Side: PBKS looks more balanced on paper.

Prediction: With a lot of factors in their favour, the Punjab Kings enter this match as favourites.
