The Delhi Capitals (DC) had the worst possible start to their home game against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 39 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Axar Patel’s side were languishing at 46 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of 10 overs in the first innings. The hosts had a terrible collapse in the early stages of the game, losing six wickets for just eight runs in the fourth over.

The collapse was started by the new ball duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. The Indian seamer got the wicket of Sahil Parakh on only the second ball of the first over. The damage was later carried out by Hazlewood in the next over.

The Australian dismissed KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi in the first two balls that he bowled in the game and was on a hat-trick. It was then Bhuvneshwar’s turn to take two wickets in one over.

The 36-year-old, bowling his second over, sent both Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel back to the pavilion. Hazlewood returned to bowl the next over and got the wicket of Nitish Rana. When the left-hander was sent packing, DC were reeling at 8 for 6.

David Miller tried to stabilise the innings, scoring 19 from 18 balls, but when he was dismissed by Rasikh Salam Dar, the score read 43 for seven.

Fans on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shared a host of memes and reactions seeing the Capitals capitulate against RCB at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
