The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stamped their authority in New Delhi by securing an emphatic victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday, April 27, in Match 39 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
In what was one of the most one-sided affairs in this season’s IPL, RCB secured a nine-wicket victory over the hosts after restricting them to just 75 in the first innings. This was mainly down to the damage done by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, who took a combined seven wickets in the game. Their devastating opening spell saw DC crumbling down to 8 for 6 before the completion of the fourth over.
In reply, RCB had little to no concerns in chasing down the low total. They received an excellent start through Jacob Bethell, who scored 20 off just 10 balls. The Englishman was dismissed thanks to an outstanding catch taken by T.Natarajan running back and avoiding the boundary ropes. After losing Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal (34) and Virat Kohli (23) finished off the game in less than seven overs.
Key moments of the match
1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood rattle the DC top order
DC had the worst imaginable start to their innings, with their top order being dismantled by the new-ball duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. The pair took the first six to rattle the hosts to 8 for 6 even before the completion of the first four overs. Bhuvneshwar ended with figures of 3 for 5 while Hazlewood took four wickets and conceded just 12 runs to win the Player of the Match award.
How do you even play that? 😳
Absolute peach from Bhuvneshwar Kumar to get the first wicket of debutant Sahil Parakh, putting RCB on top.💪🏻#TATAIPL 2026 ➡️ #DCvRCB | LIVE NOW 👉 https://t.co/X3thbSdHkS pic.twitter.com/n3QK1r3bse

2. RCB restricts DC to just 75
The Capitals never really recovered from their early loss of wickets. David Miller, Abhishek Porel and Kyle Jamieson tried to play positively but were not able to capitalise on their starts. The RCB spinners made sure that the hard work of their fast bowlers did not go in vain and bundled the 2020 finalists to just 75. Suyansh Sharma took the final wicket of Kuldeep Yadav to make sure his side is in the driver’s seat to win the contest.
Closing the innings in style! 👊

3. Virat Kohli reaches 9,000 runs in the IPL
Virat Kohli is arguably the best batter to ever play in the IPL, and he showed why when he became the first player in the tournament’s history to reach and surpass 9,000 runs. The right-handed batter achieved this landmark in his 275th game in the tournament. He currently averages 40.05 across the 19 seasons he has competed in, whilst striking at 133.80 with eight centuries to his name.
