The Delhi Capitals (DC) face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 14 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, April 8.
DC are currently unbeaten in the tournament, having won both of their games in the new season. They come into the game on the back of a convincing six-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians on home soil.
GT, on the other hand, are yet to pick up their first win in 2026, having lost two games. The 2022 champions suffered a narrow six-run defeat at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad.
IPL games are usually close-fought encounters between two strong sides on paper. Both DC and GT are equally good teams, with it being very close to predict a winner. Modern IPL has a lot of strategy involved to win a game, making the use of the Impact Player a crucial way to get the better of the opposition.
Predicted Impact Players for Delhi Capitals (DC)
Sameer Rizvi: The most in-form batter in DC’s ranks, Rizvi is an obvious choice as an Impact Sub. The 22-year-old has scored 160 runs from two matches, including a match-winning 90 not out against the Mumbai Indians.
Auqib Nabi Dar: The most talked about domestic player, Auqib Nabi Dar, was the Ranji Trophy’s highest wicket-taker for whom DC paid INR 8.40 crore in the auction. The Jammu & Kashmir player is also a handy lower-order batter.
Karun Nair: Nair made 198 runs for DC last season and is a useful middle-order option. DC can use the 34-year-old as an Impact Sub if they have lost wickets in the first 10 overs.
Ashutosh Sharma: Yet another finishing option, Ashutosh Sharma scored 204 runs at a strike-rate of 160.62. It would most likely be between him and Rizvi if DC need a batter as an Impact Sub.
Dushmantha Chameera: An excellent new-ball bowler, Dushmantha Chameera, is a wicket-taking option at DC’s disposal. The Sri Lankan played six times for the Capitals last season, taking four wickets.
Predicted Impact Players for Gujarat Titans (GT)
Shahrukh Khan: Hard-hitting Shahrukh Khan is GT’s preferred Impact Sub option when they are chasing a total. He scored at a strike-rate of 179 last season, filling in as a finisher in the side.
Jayant Yadav: An experienced spin-bowling option, Jayant Yadav could be used as an Impact Sub in case of an injury to an existing bowler or if a bowler has gone for too many runs.
Kumar Kushagra: One of Jharkhand’s key players in their title-winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season, Kumar Kushagra played against RR and scored 18 runs. He could return as an Impact Sub against DC if Shubman Gill is back in the team.
Sai Kishore: Sai Kishore had an excellent 2025 season, taking 19 wickets with his left-arm spin. If the wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is slow and grippy, expect GT to bring Kishore in as an Impact Sub.
Manav Suthar: A handy all-rounder for Rajasthan, Manav Suthar has been on the bench in both of GT’s name this season, waiting for his opportunity.
Expert Opinion and Final Prediction
- Home advantage: DC are playing their second consecutive home game, with Axar Patel’s side using home advantage to great effect for their win against the Mumbai Indians.
- Recent form: GT have won their previous two encounters against DC. The Capitals, however, have won three out of the last five games.
- Balanced side: DC have a slight edge over GT, having a lot more balanced side at their disposal.
- Prediction: With these factors in their favour, expect Delhi Capitals to hold a slight edge over the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
