The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking to do the double over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) when they take the field at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Match 59 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday, May 15.

Both teams played each other in their respective previous games four days ago at Chepauk, where the five-time champions secured a five-wicket victory in the last over.

CSK are in with a real chance to turn their season around and qualify for the playoffs. As things stand, they are fifth in the standings with 12 points to their name from 11 matches. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side are on a three-match winning streak in the tournament, with their side clicking at the right time.

Here is CSK’s strongest predicted XI vs LSG, Match 59, IPL 2026:

Top Order: Sanju Samson (WK), Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Urvil Patel

CSK’s top order has heavily relied on Sanju Samson, and rightfully so. The right-handed batter is their highest run-getter this season, with 430 at a strike-rate of 169.29. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, meanwhile, is striking at just 124.15.

However, Urvil Patel is the new star in the top order following his heroics in the previous game against LSG. The Gujarat batter scored 65 runs at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, notching up a 13-ball half-century, the joint-fastest in IPL history.

Middle Order: Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube

CSK’s middle order guided them to victory against LSG on Sunday, thanks to quick-fire cameos from Kartik Sharma and Shivam Dube. Dube, however, has had an underwhelming season based on his lofty standards, scoring 165 runs at a strike-rate of 144.73. Should the Super Kings need an extra batting option, they have the likes of Prashant Veer or Sarfaraz Khan on the Impact Subs’ bench.

Bowlers: Spencer Johnson/Matt Henry, Akeal Hosein, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary

Despite a host of injuries hitting CSK’s squad this season, they still have one of the highest wicket-takers in the form of Anshul Kamboj, with 19 scalps to his name.

The 2023 champions will miss the services of Jamie Overton, who has sustained a thigh injury. The Super Kings do have adequate replacements in their ranks, like Spencer Johnson and Matt Henry.
