IPL 2026: Best overseas 4 for Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals (DC) come into the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season with a very strong squad, which includes a very powerful overseas contingent. The Axar Patel-led side will want to go one better than last season, where they finished fifth and were only one point off the playoff spot.

The Delhi-based side has a problem that most teams would love to have, and that is having an excellent core of overseas players whilst only four can take the field. As a result, the team’s management will have a lot of sleepless nights as they try and find their best combination ahead of the tournament.

Here are the best four overseas players within the DC squad:

4. Ben Duckett – England 

Ben Duckett is one of the most exciting debutants at this year’s IPL. The left-handed batter is widely regarded as one of the best all-format opener in the current times. DC signed the Englishman at the recent mini auction for his base price of INR 2 crore. 

Should DC decide to open with KL Rahul, having Duckett up there could give them a left-hand, right-hand combination which would be handy while giving Rahul time to settle down since Duckett has the tendency to take on the bowlers from the get-go. The Capitals, however, have an in-form Pathum Nissanka in their ranks as well who could easily slot into that opening slot.

3. David Miller – South Africa

David Miller is yet another new addition to the DC squad. The hard-hitting South African comes in the setup to strengthen the side’s middle order whilst also giving them a free-scoring batter as their finishers. Miller has had an incredible IPL career, representing the likes of Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings in the past, scoring more than 3,000 runs at a strike-rate of close to 140.

Despite nearing 37 years of age, Miller still remains one of the best fielders around the cricketing fraternity. The left-hander also comes into the tournament on the back of some good showing at the T20 World Cup, scoring 174 runs at an average of 58.

2. Tristan Stubbs – South Africa 

Tristan Stubbs enters his third season with DC where he has established himself as their key middle order player. He has had two 300-run seasons where he has averaged over 50. Stubbs had a decent outing at the T20 World Cup and will come into the IPL with some good confidence behind him. The 25-year-old scored a valuable unbeaten 44 off 24 against India in Ahmedabad, a role that he might have to play for DC a lot more often this season. 

Apart from being a great middle-order batter, Stubbs’ off-breaks are also something Axar Patel can utilise in tough situations where one of their other bowlers has been expensive. 

1. Mitchell Starc – Australia 

Mitchell Starc is set to spearhead DC’s bowling attack for a second season in a row. The Australian great will come into the 2026 IPL completely fresh since he did not feature at the T20 World Cup, having announced his retirement from the format last year.

Starc comes into the tournament having last featured in the 2025-26 Big Bash League, where he took 10 wickets from five games. Last season, Starc played 11 games for DC, taking 14 wickets at a strike rate of 15.40. Though slightly on the expensive end of the spectrum, the left-arm fast bowler poses a massive threat to the opposition in the powerplay.
