Mumbai Indians (MI) outclassed Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, May 21, to storm into the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Delhi missed the services of Axar Patel due to illness, as Faf du Plessis took charge. The South African stalwart won the toss and opted to field first. They lost half their side for 65 runs inside the first 10 overs. Sameer Rizvi and Ashutosh Sharma tried to take the visitors to a miraculous win. However, the duo was dismissed in the 15th over by Mitchell Santner, and it ended Delhi’s hopes of reaching the playoffs. In the end, the visiting side was bowled out for 121 in 18.2 overs as MI won by 59 runs.

Santner was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/11 in four overs. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah bagged a three-for as well. All other MI bowlers who bowled on Wednesday chipped in with a wicket. With this defeat, the Capitals became the last team to be eliminated from the playoff race.
