Chennai Super Kings took on Lucknow Super Giants in Match 34 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. LSG won the toss and opted to bowl first. The hosts outclassed the defending champions by eight wickets. LSG had a strong start in the powerplay, with Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur dismissing Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad early on.

Ajinkya Rahane played a valuable 36 off 24, while CSK elevated Ravindra Jadeja up the batting order, a move that paid off well as he steadied the innings. However, Shivam Dube’s quick dismissal put pressure on Moeen Ali and Jadeja to rebuild. Moeen took a calculated risk against Ravi Bishnoi, hitting consecutive sixes, which boosted their total to 176, largely thanks to MS Dhoni’s quickfire 28 runs off nine balls.

Although the wicket was tricky with varying pace, Quinton de Kock struggled initially but persevered alongside KL Rahul, forming a crucial 134-run partnership. CSK’s bowling and fielding left much to be desired as they struggled to contain the opposition. They failed to utilize Moeen Ali effectively, and Jadeja faced immense pressure. Despite the efforts of Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana, Rahul’s exceptional 82 off 53 ultimately sealed the match for his team.
