RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to bat first where they put up a score of 144/9 on board in the allotted 20 overs. On the other hand, PBKS played well and chased down 145 runs in 18.5 overs to beat RR by 5 wickets.

The match between DC and LSG benefitted Rajasthan Royals as well as they became the second team after KKR to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024. On the other hand, PBKS have already been eliminated from this season of the Indian Premier League.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Kohler-Cadmore opened the innings in Jos Buttler’s absence. Punjab included Harpreet Brar back into the team and given Nathan Ellis a chance. PBKS skipper Sam Curran played a captain’s game while bowling and batting for the team. In the first over itself he dismissed the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal.

It was hard to get runs as the Rajasthan Royals bowlers kept things tight. When Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran smashed Ravichandran Ashwin for two sixes in the fifteenth over to raise the score to 100, everything changed.

Jitesh Sharma was removed from the game by Yuzvendra Chahal in his final over, ending the dangerous stand. Riyan Parag caught the 30-year-old after he had made 22 runs off of 20 balls.

.@PunjabKings clinch a brilliant victory with an all-round performance by Sam Curran. @rajasthanroyals need to regroup and assess a few things before moving to the playoffs.
