Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant lost his calm after getting out in the match against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Notably, the wicketkeeper-batter struggled massively as he made only 28 runs off 26 deliveries. Chasing 186 runs, Delhi started well with the bat as Mitchell Marsh and David Warner gave the team a good start. However, the visitors lost two back-to-back wickets of Marsh and Ricky Bhui, which put them in some trouble.

David Warner and Pant took control of the situation but the strike rate has emerged to be a big issue. The Australia international still managed to find boundaries here and there but when it came to Pant, he smacked two sixes and boundary but played a lot of dot deliveries in the process. Eventually, star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal got the better of Pant, who edged to Sanju Samson in the 14th over of the match.

Meanwhile, Pant was extremely disappointed with his performance and was spotted hitting the curtains with his bat on his way back to the dressing room.

After he got out, South Africa international Tristan Stubbs looked in sensational form as the youngster smacked 44* runs off 23 deliveries. He helped Delhi stay in the hunt for a long time but Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma bowled brilliantly to help Rajasthan win the match by 13 runs and with that, they moved to second on the points table.

Hopefully, we can do better in the next match: Pant

Analysing their performance, Pant stated that he was very disappointed and mentioned that their strategy in the death over didn’t work out. Notably, Riyan Parag played some brilliant cricket as the youngster smacked 84* runs off 45 deliveries to help RR post 185 runs on board in the first innings. The Assam-born cricketer also smashed 25 runs off Anrich Nortje’s final over, which arguably decided the fate of the match.

Speaking of the same, Pant stated that it can happen at times and is expecting to bounce back in the next match.

“Definitely disappointed. Best thing we can do from this is learn from it. The bowlers did really well till 15-16 overs, batters sometimes go on at the death and score quickly, that happened in this game. Marsh and Warner gave a good start, but we lost a few wickets in the middle overs and in the end we had too many runs to cover up. There are other options, we wanted Nortje to bowl at the death and sometimes you can go for runs, hopefully we can do better in the next match,” Pant said in the post-match conference.
