Indian Premier League 2024 has been one of the most closely fought editions so far. With 64 games done and dusted, the remaining six league games will definitely get fans hooked to their television screens. The playoff race is still one and five teams have kept their hopes alive in a bid to clinch the coveted position. With many have their fates in their own hands, some will hope as the waiting game begins.

Here’s how the fate of teams stands after the 64th game:

1. Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were the first team to qualify for the playoffs. They have 19 points in 13 games with one game getting washed out due to rain. Even a loss in the upcoming game would see them maintain the top two spot.

2. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the second team to qualify for the playoffs. They hold the second position with 16 points in 12 games. They will look to maintain the top two spots with victories in the upcoming games and might challenge KKR’s first spot as well.

3. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have garnered 14 points in 13 games they have featured in. They are in a do-or-die game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 18. A win would propel them to the playoff berth and a loss would see them frisking for fortune.

4. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are in a comfortable position, though they are placed fourth. They have 14 points in 12 games, with two games to go. They have brighter chances of securing the playoff berth given their remaining number of games and healthy NRR.

5. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) controlled the controllable with their win against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 64. Although they have 14 points at the end of their league stage, their NRR is worrisome. They would be depending on the other fixture’s results to see through the playoff.

6. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) breathed a sigh of relief after LSG lost to DC in Match 64. They are right back in the game and just have one job at hand, defeating CSK comprehensively. With 12 points in 13 games, they will hope LSG to collapse again.

7. Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have spoilt the game for themselves with a defeat against DC. They have 12 points in 13 games with a poor NRR. They are virtually out of the league and a miracle is something sport is very little associated with and they need one.

8. Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans (GT) were the third team to bow out of the league as rain played spoilsport in their crucial game against KKR. They have 10 points in 13 games and can hamper SRH’s hopes in their next fixture.

9. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) were the first team to get eliminated from the IPL 2024. They never recovered after losing early momentum. They have eight points in 13 games and they can dash LSG’s hopes forever in their final game of the season.

10. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) were the third team to get eliminated from the IPL 2024. They have played 12 games and have accrued eight points. Their upcoming game against RR is a virtual dead rubber, but they can create a muddle if they outclass SRH in the subsequent fixture.
