On the other hand, the Indians have started the season slowly as Indians have won four matches and lost eight matches so far. They are almost out of the race for playoffs. These two teams’ last meeting was in match 51 of the IPL 2024 at Bengaluru, where Knight Riders posted a decent score of 169, courtesy of Venkatesh Iyer who played a magnificent innings of 70 (52). After the early collapse, Manish Pandey 42(31), who came as an Impact Player, played an impactful knock, giving excellent support to Iyer. In response, Mumbai Indians got bundled out for just 145. They had a poor outing with the bat in the encounter between these two teams where only Suryakumar Yadav 56(37) batted well.

Speaking of the bowling of Knight Riders, Mitchell Starc (3.5-0-33-4) who came back to form after a poor start in the tournament bowled beautifully, helping Knight Riders defend the under-par total against Mumbai Indians. Spin twins Sunil Narine (4-0-22-2) and Varun Chakravarthy (4-0-22-2) also bowled superbly and gave excellent support to Mitchell Starc. Indians would like to take revenge for the last match of these two teams held at Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai.

Eden Gardens Pitch Report:

At a stadium that saw the highest total successfully chased in the IPL, and then in all T20s in two of its last three matches, anything less than a very flat surface should not be expected. This surface will provide even more cause for worry to the bowlers. And with players like Sunil Narine and Surya Kumar Yadav on show, another 200+ total is going to be on the cards.

KKR vs MI Strategies & Match-ups:

Both sides house some very aggressive batters that can take the total here to dizzying heights. At the moment there does not seem to be any respite for the bowlers at this stadium. So the simple strategy is to outbat the opposition even if in the second innings. The important matchups for this contest are Rohit Sharma vs Sunil Narine, Andre Russell vs Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer vs Piyush Chawla, and Suryakumar Yadav vs Andre Russell.

X-Factors for KKR vs MI:

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Sunil Narine was the biggest reason KKR posted massive totals in this IPL. Moreover, he has also been one of the main bowlers to pose a sort of challenge to the batters in this IPL. Narine will again be at the forefront and help KKR’s cause and let MI leapfrog them in the IPL points table.

Mumbai Indians:

After showing sublime batting in the previous game, Suryakumar Yadav scored his second IPL ton thereby carrying his magnificent form in the ongoing IPL 2024. This helped MI to chase the target. Coming back to his original touch Sky will be riding high on both confidence and form coming into this game. Yadav’s consistency and striking ability in this tournament is also something Kolkata Knight Riders would be wary of.
