IPL 2024: Match 32, Stats Review: Lowest total against Delhi and other stats from GT vs DC

At Ahmmedabad in match no. 32, Delhi Capitals rolled Gujarat Titans over by 6 wickets and 67 balls remaining in what was the best bowling display by a team in IPL 2024.

Titans lost early wickets after being sent in courtesy of Ishant Sharma (2 for 8) and Mukesh Kumar (3 for 14). Once GT had been reduced to 30/4, so poor was the plight that even Tristan Stubbs (2 for 11) picked up two wickets. Rashid Khan (31 off 24) was the only batter to show any semblance of a fight, but that didn’t stop GT from being bowled out for just 89. Delhi Capitals did lose four wickets, mainly to Sandeep Warrier (2 for 40) who tried his best, but it was simply a speebreaker as DC chased the target in just 8.5 overs.

Here are all the stats from the game:

1 – 89 is GT’s lowest total in the IPL ever. This means that, out of 13 teams that have existed in IPL history, the only three teams that have never been bowled out below 100 are all defunct now (Pune Warriors India, Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant). GT’s previous lowest total (125/6) came against the same opposition at the same ground in 2023.

1 – GT’s 89 is the lowest total against Delhi Capitals in the IPL. The previous lowest was 92 by MI in 2011.

2 – Rishabh Pant took two catches and effected two stumpings in this match. This makes him the second wicketkeeper for Delhi to effect four dismissals in an innings. The only other person to do this was Dinesh Karthik against RR in 2009.

1 – Delhi won this match with 67 balls remaining which is their highest in the IPL beating the previous record of chasing the target with 57 balls remaining against Punjab in 2022.

2 – Rishabh Pant won his seventh Player of the Match award in the IPL. For Delhi Capitals, only Virender Sehwag with 10 has more.
