IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders’ 1st innings highlights against CSK in Match 22

Unbeaten Kolkata Knight Riders visited the fortress called Chepauk to play the Chennai Super Kings. Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to bowl first as Mustafizur Rahman came back into the team. Shardul Thakur too made his first appearance as Sameer Rizvi regained his place in the team

Shreyas Iyer went in with the same team that had humbled the Delhi Capitals in the last game. The KKR side came into the game on Monday in the 2nd spot in the IPL points table having all their three games.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 50 runs in 5 overs

Tushar Deshpande struck in the very first ball of the match as Phil Salt was dismissed. Ravindra Jadeja took a simple catch to give KKR a huge blow early. Sunil Narine who was feeling discomfort to his shoulder continued his flamboyance with the bat.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 and (Mandatory – 56/1)

Angkrish Raghuvanshi came out and gave good support to Sunil Narine once again. The two batters mixed caution and aggression to ensure no more wickets were lost in the powerplay.

Kolkata Knight Riders: First Strategic Time-Out (64/4 from 8.2 Overs)

The introduction of Ravindra Jadeja paid rich dividends for the home team. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was out LBW followed by Sunil Narine. Venkatesh Iyer was the third wicket for Jadeja as KKR lost 3 wickets for just 8 runs in 2.2 overs. 

Stat Alert: 150 T20 Wickets for Maheesh Theekshana

The Sri Lankan spinner put KKR into more trouble when he dismissed Ramandeep Singh. This gave Theekshana his 150th wicket in T20 cricket.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 100 runs in 15.2 overs

It was tough going for KKR as Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh struggled on a slow and sluggish pitch. The decision to bowl first paid rich dividends for CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Second Strategic Time-out (109/5 from 16 overs)

After getting a blistering start, Gujarat Titans were cut to size by the LSG spinners. Krunal Pandya picked 3 scalps while Ravi Bishnoi got one as the Titans seemed in a huge spot of bother. Gujarat Titans had lost their five wickets for just 26 runs on the board.

Stat Alert: Ravindra Jadeja 100 catches in IPL

Ravindra Jadeja snapped up his 100th catch in IPL when he caught Shreyas Iyer for 34. The veteran India star began the day with 98 catches and Phil Salt was his 99th catch.

End of the Innings: Kolkata Knight Riders: 137/9 from 20 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was a happy camper as the CSK bowlers maintained a tight strangle over the KKR batters. None of the explosive batters from the Knight Riders could have any impact.
