IPL 2024: Ishan Kishan spotted in hilarious superhero costume at Mumbai airport, picture goes viral

Ishan Kishan was spotted wearing a Superman costume at the Mumbai airport. This comes as a Mumbai Indians’ interdisciplinary action against the players who do not comply with rules. Kishan was seen entering the airport premises with luggage and decked up in a superhero costume. Notably, he was ignored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the central contracts recently.

The southpaw had cited mental fatigue as the issue for making him unavailable for the South Africa series and, subsequently, the five Tests against England at home. BCCI secretary Jay Shah stressed that it is inevitable for players to engage in domestic games when not being busy with national duties. But the Patna-born instead opted to practice with the MI camp ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 and fell under BCCI’s radar.

MI’s unique punishment system grabs eyeballs

Ex-skipper Rohit Sharma had previously revealed that there has been a tradition in the MI camp that if a player fails to abide by rules, he will be subjected to a funny public skit. As a result, when someone appears late for the meetings or the departure of the team bus, as a hilarious penalization, the player would be wearing a funny superhero costume on the way to their next arrival. The stumper-batter was subjected to this comic treatment during IPL 2028 as well.

“I was told about it two days earlier, but I completely forgot. So, I missed my gym session. I’m feeling quite awkward, but still. That’s why I haven’t taken off my sunglasses inside the airport. I don’t want to make eye contact with anyone. I won’t make this mistake again. I will make sure of that,” Kishan had said back in 2018.

“Whoever is late will have to wear this special kit. I was late to the physio room. In fact, I never reached. That’s why I have been punished. On the last, we were told to wear jeans, but I wore my tracks. When it comes to punctuality, I am always 10 minutes early,” Rahul Chahar, the then member of Mumbai Indians, had revealed.
