IPL 2024 Flop Indian XI after sixth week

At the end of the sixth week, things have got quite intense in the IPL 2024. Barring Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) who are placed in the first two spots in the table, all other teams seem to be fighting each other to solidify their position in the top 4. The race for the playoffs is truly on and the teams would want their players to be at their best. The form of the Indian players will be key for any team, as they form the core with talent and skills.

While some players have been in brilliant form, others have not been in their best form. However, some of the players have performed way below the expectations of the fans and the management. Such players have disrupted the team combination to hand a negative impact for the team. While some of them got dropped, others are being trusted by the teams to deliver the goods at the right time.

Here is the flop Indian XI of the IPL 2024 after the sixth week –

Top Order – Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha (wk)

Ajinkya Rahane has been one of the worst Indian openers of the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The right-handed batter has 208 runs in 10 innings at a batting average of 20.80 and a batting strike rate of 123.07 to his name. His best score in a match is 45. The experienced batter is visibly not at his best as a batter.

As the second opener, this team has Wriddhiman Saha, who has been struggling to score runs. Saha will be the wicketkeeper of this side as well. The experienced batter has 136 runs in 9 innings at a batting average of 15.11, at a batting SR of 118.26 with a best score of 39.

Middle Order – Mayank Agarwal, Shreyas Iyer (C), Jitesh Sharma, and Dhruv Jurel

At number 3, the team has Mayank Agarwal. The SRH batter has not done well so far and has been out of touch. He might well be replaced in the upcoming game. Shreyas Iyer will be the skipper of the side. The KKR batter has played good knocks but has not been consistent as a batter.

Jitesh Sharma has been poor as a WK batter. After doing well in the last couple of seasons, Sharma could not continue the momentum in the ongoing season. Much like Jitesh, Dhruv Jurel has not lived up to the expectations. The young batter has a solitary good knock to his name.

All-rounders – Vijay Shankar and Ravichandran Ashwin

The team has a couple of good all-rounders. Vijay Shankar has been poor as a batter this season. The GT player did well in 2023 but could not live up to the expectations before getting dropped. Even as a bowler, the right-arm medium pacer went expensive in the opportunities he got to bowl.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been hammered by the batters in the last few games. Barring the game against DC, he has not picked a lot of wickets. With the bat, he has a good knock. But as a player, he has been disappointing. As a fielder, the 37-year-old is not an inspiring option either.

Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Mohit Sharma, and Mayank Dagar (Impact substitute)

With the new ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been hammered by the batters. Barring a few games, he has been expensive with the new ball. To assist him in the PP overs would be Mohammed Siraj. The right-arm pacer has had a rough patch this season and often bowled in wrong line and length.

Mohit Sharma has been poor at the death. In one of the games, the right-arm pacer conceded the most expensive spell in the history of the league. Mayank Dagar will be the impact player on the side. The left-arm orthodox spinner has been on a rather expensive side despite being a spinner.
