IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals’ strongest predicted XI against Mumbai Indians

For the second time this season, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will battle it out in an afternoon game on a rare double-header on Saturday. Delhi Capitals currently have 8 points from 9 games while Mumbai has 6 points from 8 games.

Delhi Capitals won a pulsating encounter in the last game where they beat the resilient Gujarat Titans by a close margin. The form of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant will be a pleasing sight for the fans of the Delhi Capitals.

The one cause for concern has been the bowling form of the Delhi bowlers. Apart from Kuldeep Yadav none of the bowlers seemed to be able to stem the flow of runs. This will be a cause for concern as Mumbai Indians also possess a dangerous batting unit and can run up a huge score.

Australian cricketer Jake Fraser-McGurk has been enthralling the fans not just in India but also around the world with his stroke play. The young right-handed batter has already become the fastest Delhi Capitals batter to register an IPL fifty. If the Capitals have to make progress in the tournament they would need young Fraser-McGurk to fire more often.

Prithvi Shaw has yet again started to underperform just when it seemed that he was back in form. The 24-year-old tough will take solace from the fact that the last time he played against Mumbai Indians he had scored a brilliant half-century.

Middle-order – Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant, and Abhishek Porel

In his first-ever season in the IPL, West Indian star Shai Hope has not been able to score enough runs. With the talent and quality he has, Shai Hope will look to turn things around with the bat. Abhishek Porel will also be looking to get back to his prime scoring form as he hasn’t been able to do much with the abt. His knock against SRH helped raise hopes of an unlikely win for his side in what was a tall chase. 

Rishabh Pant will want to continue his brutal batting form in the game against Mumbai Indians. As the day for Indian selection gets closer, Pant will want to prove to the selectors that he is indeed 100% fit enough to return to the national side.

All-rounders – Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel

Former Mumbai Indians star Tristan Stubbs played a blinder to pull off a near-impossible chase the last time these two sides met. The young South African hasn’t just been impressive with the bat but also picked two key wickets during the game against the Titans in Ahmedabad. 

Axar Patel too is back in good form as he scored his career-best IPL score in the last game and also bowled well. The 30-year-old batted well after being pushed to number 3 in the batting slot.

Bowlers – Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje, and Mukesh Kumar

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been the best bowler by far as far as wicket-taking and economy rate is concerned. The 29-year-old has continued to build on his amazing recent form with the ball.

Khaleel Ahmed will be the other Indian bowler that the selectors will have their eyes on. The left-arm pacer has been in good form with the new ball and has picked wickets to keep his side in the hunt. Rishabh Pant will hope that Anrich Nortje and Mukesh Kumar too will find their form after being expensive in the last game.
