MS Dhoni is entertaining the crowd with his short impactful cameos in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). A few nights ago, the 42-year-old ‘youngster’ slammed 20 off just 4 balls against Mumbai Indians (MI), and on April 19, he scored 28 off 9 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Though his recent knock was in vain, CSK fans were delighted to witness their beloved ‘Thala’ bossing the death overs once again.

Irrespective of the venue, the former CSK captain always acts as a crowd puller and Lucknow’s Ekana stadium was no exception. The stands were packed with Yellow Army, who went berserk when Dhoni walked out to bat in the final ball of the 18th over. It’s not a rare experience for Indian fans, but LSG keeper-batter Quinton de Kock’s wife Sasha was shocked by the support the CSK talisman received.

After the match, Sasha revealed on her Instagram story that when MSD came out to bat, the sound level reached 95 decibels as shown on her smartwatch. A notice followed suggesting that exposure to this sound level for just 10 minutes could cause temporary hearing loss.

“Loud environment. Sound levels hit 95 decibels. Just 10 minutes at this level can cause temporary hearing loss,” read the note on the smartwatch of the Proteas cricketer’s wife.

Nicholas Pooran calls Dhoni a ‘national hero’

CSK were reeling at 141 for 6 in 17.5 overs when Dhoni walked out to bat. The legendary captain showed off his vintage power-hitting, scoring a rapid 28 runs to electrify the crowd and guide the team to a respectable 176. However, LSG didn’t lose much of a sweat in the chase as De Kock and KL Rahul added 134 runs for the first wicket to facilitate an 8-wicket win.

LSG’s big hitter Nicholas Pooran was surprised by the crowd’s adoration for Dhoni in an away match. The Caribbean cricketer called Dhoni a national hero and expressed his wish to share memories of the game with his kids and grandchildren.

“It’s not only this season, but every season. When he was coming in with the bat, there was a sea of yellow outside. It was amazing to see. He is a national hero,” Pooran told Star Sports.

“We did not play at the time of Brian Lara; everyone is a die-hard fan of him. But it’s nice to witness something like that. It feels good being in that position, but happy to be on the park with him, share those moments, so that we can tell our kids and grandchildren,” Pooran added.
