IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings' 2nd Innings Highlights against DC in Match 13

It is a hectic Sunday in the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Visakhapatnam is witnessing an amazing game between home side Delhi Capitals against defending champions Chennai Super Kings.

Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat first as Prithvi Shaw made his comeback to the team in place of Ricky Bhui. Kuldeep Yadav was rested due to niggle as Ishant Sharma replaced the bowler. Chennai Super Kings went in with the same team that had won both the matches so far.

Delhi Capitals finally got their first points of IPL 2024 by beating Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. The margin of victory for Rishabh Pant and his side was 20 runs to hand CSK their first loss of the season.

Chasing 192 to win, Chennai Super Kings lost both their openers to Khaleel Ahmed inside the first six overs. Ajinkya Rahane tried to do his best to revive the innings with Daryl Mitchell to no avail. MS Dhoni then came out and entertained the crowd with 37 runs from 16 balls to send the Vizag crowd happy.

Chennai Super Kings’ 2nd Innings Highlights against DC:

Powerplay 1: Overs 0.1 to 6 (Mandatory -32/2)

Khaleel Ahmed got the big wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 1 in the 1st over. The left-arm seamer then followed up by dismissing Rachin Ravindra for 2 runs from 12 balls.

Chennai Super Kings: 50 runs in 8.3 overs

After struggling to get going in the first six overs, Chennai Super Kings pushed on the scoring rate. The fifty was reached when Daryl Mitchell hit Axar Patel for a six.

First Strategic time-out: Chennai Super Kings – 58/2 (9 overs)

CSK didn’t lose anymore wickets as Rahane and Daryl Mitchell took the team to safety. At the first time-out the two batters had put the team in a relatively decent position.

Chennai Super Kings: 100 runs in 12.5 overs

Axar Patel got the big wicket of Daryl Mitchell in the 11th over. Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube then upped the tempo. The 100 came in the 13th over with a four by Shivam Dube.

Strategic Timeout: Chennai Super Kings 102/4 in 13.3 overs

Delhi Capitals got the big wicket of Ajinkya Rahane for 45 runs off 30 balls caught by Warner off Mukesh Kumar. This is when the second time-out was taken by Delhi Capitals.

Chennai Super Kings : 150 runs in 19 overs

The defending champions reached their 150 in the last ball of the 19th over with Ravindra Jadeja taking two runs. Only 5 runs came off the over from Mukesh Kumar as Delhi nearly sealed the game.

End of the match: Chennai Super Kings: 171/6 in 20 overs

MS Dhoni turned back the clock as he smashed 20 runs from the Anrich Nortje over. The former CSK skipper two fours and two sixes to end on 37 not out. Delhi won their first game of IPL 2024 season by 20 runs.
