The final of IPL 2023 saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) locking horns at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 29.
Coming in to bat first after losing the toss, Gujarat Titans got off to a thunderous start as Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha played brilliant knocks. Gill amassed 39 runs in 20 balls, whereas Saha scored a sensational half-century, accumulating 54 runs in 39 deliveries.
However, it was the knock of Sai Sudharshan that propelled Gujarat to a mammoth total. The 21-year-old batter amassed 96 runs in 47 deliveries and helped the defending champions post 214 runs in the summit clash of the competition.
Matheesha Pathirana was the highest wicket-taker for Chennai in the first innings, taking two wickets in four overs and conceding 44 runs in the process. Furthermore, Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

Coming in to chase the mammoth target, rain played spoilsport once again as the match was suspended for quite some time in the second innings. Having played just three balls in the first over of the run chase, rain disrupted play.

Shivam Dube played an unbeaten knock of 32 runs in 21 balls, with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 15* runs in six deliveries. In a thrilling end to the game, Chennai scored 10 runs off the last two balls to win the game by five wickets and, in turn, win their fifth IPL title.
