Sanjay Bangar shed light on a unique strategy for India’s batting lineup, particularly when facing left-arm seam bowlers. Bangar’s insights offer an intriguing viewpoint, as he gave a breakdown of tackling the less common angle of bowling attack.

Bangar highlighted that due to the majority of right-arm dominant bowling attacks, opportunities to face left-arm bowlers are limited. However, when the occasion arises, the angle becomes crucial. According to Bangar, the key lies in positioning and execution.

“One doesn’t get much chances to play from that angle because most of the teams have a right-hand attack and opening bowling pairs. However, the angle is very crucial keeping in mind where you want to play as a batsman because when a left-arm bowler bowls from close to the stumps and brings it inwards towards the right-hand batsman,” Bangar said on Start Sports’ show, ‘Follow The Blues’.

He further said that a batter’s head position becomes pivotal, requiring precision to effectively tackle this line of attack. “One should target the bowler, for that, the head position needs to be perfect,” he added.

Bangar’s strategy recommendation involves targeting the area between mid-off and mid-on, along with the mid-wicket region. By doing so, the batter can exploit the angle and improve their scoring opportunities against this specific bowling approach.

“One needs to set himself and think of scoring runs between mid-off and mid-on / mid-wicket areas,” Bangar added.

Bangar shared his perspective on Rohit Sharma’s training focus, hinting that the Indian captain has been working on these aspects during practice sessions. “Rohit would have been focusing on these areas,” he said.

The much-awaited Asia Cup, co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is all set to commence on August 30. India and Pakistan are firm favourites to win this edition’s trophy but teams like Afghanistan and Bangladesh are also capable of turning the odds and India should be aware of their challenge as well.
