India Top Batters T20 World Cup 2026: 3 Players Who Led the India Cricket Team

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 turned out to be a memorable campaign for India as they lifted the title for the third time, becoming the first team in history to achieve the feat. India began their campaign strongly in the group stage, registering victories over the United States, Pakistan, Namibia and Netherlands.

In the Super Eight stage, they suffered their only defeat of the tournament against South Africa. However, India bounced back strongly with wins over Zimbabwe and West Indies to seal a place in the semi-finals. In the knockout stage, India defeated England in the semi-final before delivering a commanding performance against New Zealand in the final to successfully defend their title.

Here are top three batters from India in T20 World Cup 2026:

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson enjoyed a sensational tournament and was rightly named the Player of the Tournament. The wicketkeeper-batter accumulated 321 runs in five innings at an exceptional average of 80.25 and a remarkable strike rate of 199.37. Interestingly, Samson did not feature in the early matches of the tournament but made an immediate impact once he returned to the playing XI. He first appeared against Namibia, scoring 22 runs, and later added 24 against Zimbabwe in the Super Eight stage.

From that point onward, Samson delivered a stunning run of performances. He smashed an unbeaten 97 against West Indies in a virtual quarter-final, followed by an impressive 89 against England in the semi-final. The right-hander carried his form into the final against New Zealand, scoring another match-defining 89 to play a pivotal role in India’s title-winning campaign.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was another key contributor at the top of the order. The aggressive left-handed batter played nine matches in the tournament and scored 317 runs at an average of 35.22 and a strike rate of 193.29. Kishan started the tournament with a modest knock of 20 against the United States before finding his rhythm with a solid 61 against Namibia. One of his standout performances came against arch-rivals Pakistan, where he scored a brilliant 77 to dominate the bowling attack.

He later contributed 18 runs against the Netherlands in the final group-stage game but was dismissed for a duck against South Africa in the Super Eight stage. Kishan bounced back with 38 against Zimbabwe and added 10 against West Indies. He played an important cameo of 39 in the semi-final and then delivered another impactful knock of 54 in the final against New Zealand.

Shivam Dube may not have grabbed the biggest headlines, but he proved to be a valuable performer for India with both bat and ball throughout the tournament. The all-rounder scored 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 169.06. Although he started the tournament with a duck against the United States, Dube quickly recovered with contributions of 23 against Namibia and 27 against Pakistan.

Dube continued his steady run with 42 against South Africa and later chipped in with useful knocks in the knockout stages.
