The India ‘A’ men’s cricket team will tour Nepal for a three-match T20 series in December this year, with all fixtures staged at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The tour was finalised on the sidelines of the ongoing International Cricket Council Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, following a meeting between Cricket Association of Nepal President Chatur Bahadur Chand, CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal) Secretary Paras Khadka, and Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devajit Saikia.
According to the schedule agreed upon by the two boards, India ‘A’ will take on Nepal in the first game on December 9, with the subsequent second and third T20 matches being held on December 11 and December 13 respectively. The series will offer Nepal a huge opportunity to test their skills against what is expected to be a formidable Indian A squad, likely to comprise of top Indian Premier League (IPL) performers and fringe players in the senior men’s T20I team.
The tour marks another significant step in the growing relationship between the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Nepal. The Nepal men’s team had previously played tri-series games against Gujarat and Baroda domestic teams as part of their 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup preparations and also trained at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence before travelling to the West Indies and USA for the World Cup. This tour against India A will provide similar high-quality exposure ahead of Nepal’s upcoming international assignments.
The three-match series gets underway on Friday, December 9, 2026, in Kirtipur. Nepal will have just completed their domestic calendar and will look to use this window to sharpen their T20I skills. The remaining fixtures are locked in for December 11 and 13, both at the same venue. The Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground has hosted Nepal’s major home fixtures in recent years and remains the nation’s premier international cricket facility.
India A recently won an ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka under Tilak Varma’s leadership. Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A were the other teams who participated in the competition.
