The recall indicates that the selectors have chosen to reintegrate Jaiswal into the ODI structure ahead of the West Indies series. His return adds a highly skilled option at the top alongside a unit that includes the likes of Rohit Sharma, skipper Gill and Virat Kohli.

2. Why is Jasprit Bumrah not in the ODIs?

Jasprit Bumrah has been left out of the ODI squad because he has been assigned to the Asian Games T20I contingent. The BCCI confirmed that his commitments with the Asian Games squad are the reason for his absence from the West Indies home series.

With Bumrah unavailable, the pace attack will be led by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar, all of whom have been included in the announced squad. The management would be hoping to keep their ace pacer fit for the upcoming series in New Zealand, where India’s recent results have not been in their favour.
